Quick CHM is a desktop tool which creates a CHM help file.

Quick CHM is a companion tool to Microsoft HTML Help Workshop (HHW). HHW is required before Quick CHM can be used. You can download and install the free HHW from this link

From the main dialog screen the user can add/edit/delete projects. Each project information set contains the name, description, start page, and folder location of the html files. The information is saved in an XML format file. This file can also be manually edited. Manual editing can often be advantageous for copying and pasting information within the XML file.

Three separate files are created for each project. The first file is the project file, [ProjectName].hhp. This file is automatically built based upon information read from the XML file. The second file is the table of contents [ProjectName].hhc. This file is created from the information in the [ProjectName].hhp file. The third file is the index file, Index.hhk. It is generated by scanning all the html files and extracting words which match the minimum length and regular expression pattern provided in the index file dialog box. These three files are used by Quick CHM to generate the final help file in a [ProjectName].chm format.

The table of contents and index file can also be edited from their respective dialog box screens. All three project files can be manually edited.
